Today we gather together, families and
friends, to give thanks for all of our
blessings.

Many think of the pilgrims and the
Indians when they came together in 1621.
They were thankful for the harvest
bounty and celebrated with a three day
feast and Governor William
Bradford proclaimed the first
American day of thanksgiving.

Although for many years, presidents
would proclaim this day as a
national day of thanksgiving,
Thanksgiving finally became a legal US
holiday in 1939 when President Franklin
D. Roosevelt brought this day to the 4th
Thursday in November.

From the pilgrims and the Indians of so
long ago, to the families and friends
that travel the miles to be together on
this wonderful day, we give thanks.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving Day!
